Anxiety Therapy in Connecticut for Overthinking, Stress, and Constant Worry
You Know You're Overthinking It. That Doesn't Make It Stop.
Maybe this isn't one big thing.
Maybe it's a hundred little things.
Wondering if you made the right decision.
Thinking about everything you still need to get done.
Feeling guilty when you finally sit down to rest because your mind immediately reminds you of something else you "should" be doing.
Trying to plan for every possible outcome so you don't get caught off guard.
Feeling like if you could just get through this week... this project... this conversation... then maybe you could finally relax.
But somehow, there's always something else.
And somewhere along the way, carrying the weight of everything started to feel normal.
Why Can't I Stop Overthinking Everything?
Anxiety is often described as excessive worry, but most of the people I work with experience it as something much deeper.
It's the feeling that you never really feel safe.
It's feeling responsible for things that aren't yours to carry.
It's second-guessing yourself, preparing for every possible outcome, and struggling to fully relax even when things are okay.
From a nervous system perspective, anxiety often develops as a form of protection. At some point, your system learned that staying alert, staying prepared, and staying ahead of potential problems was important.
The problem is that eventually those protective patterns can become exhausting.
What once helped you cope may now be keeping you stuck.
Therapy That Goes Beyond Coping Skills
Many of my clients have spent years trying to think their way out of anxiety.
They've learned the breathing exercises.
They've listened to the podcasts.
They understand that they're overthinking.
But insight alone doesn't always create change.
My approach combines relational, psychodynamic, and nervous system-informed therapy to help you understand not only what is happening, but why.
Together, we'll explore the experiences, relationships, and patterns that shaped the way your nervous system learned to respond to stress.
We'll pay attention to what's happening beneath the anxiety—not just the thoughts themselves, but the fears, emotions, and protective strategies underneath them.
Rather than fighting your anxiety, we'll work to understand it.
And from that understanding, create something different.
What Happens When You Stop Living in Survival Mode
Therapy won't eliminate uncertainty from life.
But it can change your relationship with it.
Over time, many clients notice they spend less energy overthinking and more energy actually living.
They feel more connected to themselves.
More confident in their decisions.
Less consumed by self-doubt.
More able to rest.
More able to trust.
More able to believe that they don't have to carry everything alone.
